Kitty has always eaten 9 lives. She was originally a barn kitty and cat food was only a small part of her diet, if you know what I mean.
So I bring KiKi home and give her the same food and it caused diarrhea. She also needs to put on some weight.
I switched them both to a feed that my former siamese ate. It's a kitten formula. My former siamese, Bekka, would only eat the kitten formula even as an adult.
Last night I compared the ingredients between this feed and Iams kitten food and the only differences were that this feed has 2% more protein and it has wheat gluten in it. This food is several dollars cheaper than Iams.
I've read several times not to feed wheat gluten, but I've never known why?
KiKi is loving this new food and the diarrhea is clearing up. Kitty is still not sure about it. She'd rather I fill her bowl with more 9 lives.
Why is the gluten bad?
