Amorphous Diatomaceous Earth is useless as an internal wormer. The mechanism(s) of action responsible for suppressing/killing many (but not all) species of `worms'/ insects? ADE is a desiccant and can absorb ~x4 its weight in water and possesses the ability to act as an ADSORBENT. Neither of these mechanisms are of utility in wet environments

When Amorphous Diatomaceous Earth was tested for its utility as a "probiotic" feed additive, for chickens, there was evidence that it was binding with nutrients, that would otherwise be absorbed, and eliminated through the waste.

Well drained runs dressed with several inches of large grained sand will help keep earthworms to a minimum (vector). A regular worming schedule (switching between classes of wormer Eprinomectin/Albendazole can be of utility in prevention).

ADE is fairly effective on most ectoparasites, but it works slowly and is most effective in areas with lower humidity (adsorbs the lipoids from the chitinous exoskeleton of the bug leading to loss of bodily fluids - and then the ADE's desiccant action speeds that process along)

A dusting of ADE mixed in with stored grain will knock down grain weevil/Darkling Beetle populations..
