The 2017 Reno show is coming up at the beginning of Oct.
DH & I were thinking about attending for the first time just for fun & looky-loos but have never been to it. It is a 3 hour drive & he would have to take the day off work.

So my questions - is it a fairly big show? Is there a good representation of both LF as well as bantams? (I'm more into the LF. DH bantams.) Does anyone know how many entries they typically get?

Appreciate any opinions! :)

It's an awesome show! I went last year and there were SO MANY BIRDS!!!! It was diverse in terms of breeds and species. There's also a sale area where you can buy new birds! I got a show quality bantam Barred Rock there last year, and she's the best layer in my flock, even compared to the hatchery Bantams.

Thanks! So there was a good variety of LF too? The last show we went to seemed to be 80% bantams/seramas, etc. Understandably since that's what most show people raise but would like to see more LF. I was surprised at the number of breeds that weren't represented at the last show.

I would say it was about 60-70% Bantams, and 30-40% LF. There were also bantam and LF ducks, geese, guinea fowl, there were peacocks in the sale area. You can also buy cardboard boxes for transporting birds if chicken math strikes (I'm hoping I can convince the bird limitor to let me get some call ducks, or a show quality Silkie)

We're stuck in the city for now so chicken math cannot take hold (at least no more than it already has). But I love looking at all the variety & try to get contact info for future reference. Thank you for all your input.

I love the call ducks too. Too noisy for a city backyard but looking forward to getting a few in the future. Good luck getting yours. Maybe I'll see you at the show! :-D
