Hello,
I've decided I'm getting chickens again this winter/spring, and I have fallen in love with the Ameraucana breed. I've searched through many hatcheries/craigslist ads, and a lot of them are just easter eggers, or they're extremely expensive with shipping minimums (I know, it's winter.) I wanted to see if anyone else knew of any breeders near Atlanta GA, or hatcheries who don't want an arm and a leg for chicks? Mypetchicken and Meyer are the only two that I've found so far, hatchery wise.
Side note- I'm having a lot of trouble finding a breed standard to compare Ameraucanas to Easter Eggers. I'm not looking for show quality Ameraucanas, but I definitely want purebred, I'm snobby like that. Any tips?

What variety are you wanting? I breed Blacks and Self Blue (Lavenders), personally...

Biggest tip on telling true Ameraucanas apart from Easter Eggers is Ameraucanas will always have their color variety stated... you can look here to see pics of the varieties in the gallery, read up on standard requirements (like slate legs as compared to green legs that are common in EE's), and also there is a great breeders directory you can go through and contact breeders... most don't have chicks or eggs available until spring though, but the best things are always worth waiting for! :)

Thank you for your replies! I am looking for any variety really, I love the blue splashes but honestly they're such pretty birds I'm happy with any color they come in. Do you have any, or will you have any any time soon?
I did find BYCs breed reviews after I made this post, which was very helpful, and I touched on ABC last night, but never got around to looking at the actual breeders in my area xD

I don't have any available right now, but should in spring... or you could see if anyone in your area would split an order from one of the well known breeders... or get an order and sell the rest you don't wish to keep...

They're a wonderful breed for sure! :)
