Rescue Pekin sounds like a guinnea pig???

Ok, I found a large animal vet that doesn't specialize in birds, and doesn't see ducks - BUT - they will run a fecal sample for me and give me the results for $25. That seems fair. I think that will be my next step. Thanks for the help everyone! I will come back with the results - hopefully later today.
Good for you looking forward to hearing the results.

Did your vet tell you to use ivermectin? If so, you should know mine said the same thing, but I have seen way too many people's necropsy pictures and other publications that show it doesn't work.

Ok, test came back negative for all worms. What a relief. Here is a video of her voice. Any ideas? Otherwise, I will just watch and wait to see if she shows any other symptoms.

I just don't know, Jen. Maybe I haven't heard a "normal" Pekin for a while. I'm not detecting anything about that I'd be worried over. It's not a strong, forceful quack, but it doesn't sound like illness to me. She looks very happy swimming around in your pond.

I will try to post a video tonight of her sister clacking to show the difference. It is usually a pretty loud honking quack. She does seem very happy though, so that makes me feel better.

It could just be this is her voice too. Some of us just have to be different.

Ok, thanks guys! I feel much better now. She didn't come from an ideal situation, just like all of my other rescue ducks :) You never quite know what you are dealing with until you have them home and can really look them over. They are doing really well, and finding their place in my flock. I won't worry about her voice anymore, I am treating a cut on her foot, but other than that, I am mostly leaving her alone. She seems to be very wary of humans. I hate not knowing what has happened the last 1.5 years of her life. I'm sure she will have a good life here with us :)
