Ribh's D'Coopage

I haven't posted much recently.
In reality there's not been much to say.

My run is up & functional.
If I had more money it would be considerably different but @ least everyone, mostly, is confined to their own yard. Ha'penny has hopped the fence into the neighbours once. Naturally it would be Ha'penny. And Chavi found a spot to dig under this morning & was shocked to discover herself alone in the long grass.
Moulting is almost done. India, bless her little heart, has laid all through her moult & Chavi is also laying but seeing she sat all summer, so she should be!

I have some small tree stumps in the run for the girls ~ & hopefully the man next door will lob the really big ones over the fence for me so I can have sturdier ones for the boy. There are 2 smallish trees happening ~ which I will trim to create a hide for the girls but compared to what they are used to it's a rather dull run. I am working on it & @ least there are no issues with space. Plenty of that! Given the number of big trees in my back yard the hens do well for a mix of sun, shade & dappled light. The coop is working well though I think I need a tarp from the front to the fence for shade in summer & to keep the front a little drier when our big storms come through.

Leonard has worked out beautifully. The girls like him & there are no issues between us though there are days I roll my eyes, he's such a clown. I saw Alpia stolidly enduring being mounted when all of a sudden, in his exuberance, Leonard somersaulted right over her head in a flurry of feathered indignation! And yesterday I saw him flapping around on the ground. Eventually a very indignant Chavi crawled out from under him. 🙄 The morning crow offs with the neighbours roosters have settled down & everyone is actually pretty quiet.
Apart from Ha'penny killing off every single chick from the 2nd hatch there have been no recent issues. Everyone seems well & happy.
I have planted beans, cucumbers, lettuce, coriander, parsley, raspberries, spinach & asparagus. Will try tomatoes though I have yet to find a variety I like that isn't a pain to grow. Will harvest pumpkins this week. The vine just came up in the front yard so I let it run & have about a dozen good sized pumpkins to show for it. Guess I can thank the chooks for that one.

Finally here is my lovely Tootsie. She & Leonard have really feathered their feet over the past few months.

It's wonderful to even hear a mundane update. I'm glad everything is selling in nicely.
