I don’t know if y’all have ever heard the term baby fever, when somebody is wanting a baby really bad. I have a new fever I want to tell y’all about, chicken fever. So I have been having extreme chicken withdrawals as of the last two weeks. I think I almost have my parents convinced that we need more chickens, hello egg prices?! I personally want the companionship back again. I have chicken fever so bad. I have been studying all of the information about coops because when I get chickens I want a great coop. Yes I am an adult but I still live with my parents, hello rent prices?! Then there comes the fact that if you rent you more than likely won’t be able to have any pets or farm animals. I almost bought a house last year with a dream worthy set up for a small farm but backed out because honestly I don’t want to live alone. I might be an adult but I’m not ready for that yet. I miss my sweet chickens so bad! We had to give all of my chickens away a few years ago due to me getting a job that took all of my time up and due to feed prices, hello inflation?! I miss the egg songs and the chickens that would sit on my feet and let me hand feed them. I miss it. I still work but I have really got into the swing of things now and if I build the coop I want, then I think my chickens will be ok with me being gone most of the day. So for all you fellow chicken lovers out there how many of y’all have experienced this intense desire for chickens?

Would you have any interest in quail? They are a smaller and cheaper alternative.
I have looked into quail because I just love small birds! My bantam chickens were my favorites. But the downside with quail from what I have read is they don’t lay enough eggs and then I would probably more than likely end up incubating and hatching, and I have read places where fertility decrease dramatically even just from a years difference. Also I am not confident enough that I could sex them right and I don’t think I could justify having them if we didn’t get enough eggs lol.

:frow I hate to think of the day when I get too old and decrepit to take care of them. Maybe I should record several days of their noises so it can be my "playlist" for when that day comes, lol. I have a baby monitor out there now so I can hear them when I am in the house, lol. I love hearing my rooster crow.

I know right! I miss it, I used to sit out in the coop with them for long periods of time and feed them and pet them and talk to them. They would of course always look at me and make that slow bawk bawk noise that was almost like what on earth are you doing🤣
