Posting for my 11yo son. He's been wanting to breed Cream Legbars for some time and after searching for decent looking started/mature birds I threw in the towel, but he decided to use a little of his pocket money and picked up this 9 month old for now to go in with his blue/green/olive layers as he prefers single combs where as I go towards pea comb and his sisters lay nice blue eggs.
Anyway he has asked for opinions or as he says "roasts" on the boy so we can learn a little about their colouring and everything wrong with him. I have tried looking at photos and reading about their genetics but for a mainly lavender and BBS breeder myself I just keep getting a headache!
We do know this boy is lacking a crest, his tail sits too high (not always as high as the photo) and his colouring is???? I'm not sure if all that colour is because of autosomal red, if it's because he's gold instead of cream or both?
My son will eventually get his breeding CL but I think I might find a recommended breeder in my area and go for eggs/chicks .
PS anyone have any photos of "ideal" roosters and hens of cream legbars that I can use as reference when looking at breeding stock for his future birds
