Rooster Crowing Question...

I picked up an 11 month old RIR rooster from a certain someone from this website & I love him! He's making my eggs fertile and waking me up...

Question though... What time is a "normal" time for roosters to crow in the morning?

My guy starts crowing at 415 every morning!

Now, he has helped me to become more productive as I'm finding myself getting up earlier and handling a few more things around the house and on the computer (never knew how productive I could be when everyone is still asleep)...

They seem to crow at any light, like my mom turning on the porch light at 3am

, there is no "time" to crow they just do it when they feel like it.

My roosters start crowing at first light, or any light. My adult roo crows in the morning and if someone drives up (he's my watch rooster) but rarely at other times. My young cockerel crows all through the day and late into the evening and whenever someone drives up too. Tonight he was crowing just outside the coop door at 6:30 PM. It was getting dark and all the pullets had already gone in. He just likes the sound of his own voice.

my rooster actually crows whenever he wants! sometimes he'll crow at 12:00 at night sometimes right before he goes to roost! so my guess is whenever he wants to crow and i think its perfectly normal

Nearly every single night, my dominant rooster, Carl, crows at midnight. Like freakin' clockwork. Sometimes it's a minute after, sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes a minute before. Every single night.

I have NO idea why, but he crows at various other times during the night darkness, too. I've gone outside at 10 pm to see what caused him to crow, find nothing. The midnight crowing I just sort of noticed it particularly. He also crows around 4:15 a.m. most mornings. I think THAT crow is to welcome the morning sun BEFORE it appears, like calling to it: "Come up, come up, start the day!"

I've already discovered he will crow when I turn on the kitchen or bathroom lights - both face the largest window in the coop. But that midnight crow? There MUST be something on a timer in the neighbor's yard that sets him off... perhaps the pool heater? (They're quite well-to-do.) Something.

Depends on the time of year. Usually about 4:30 am in the summer.

Our cochin last winter would not crow until 8:30 am! We used to call him the banker rooster

We'll have to see with our EE. He was a spring chick this year so this will be his first winter. He does crow earlier and more often than the cochin, so we'll have to see.

Mine starts around six, even though its not even light out yet. I dont know why he starts at this time, but its way to early in my book...

I wish I could get ours to wait that long! Lately they have been waking us up at 3:20 AM. It's pitch-dark, the moon has set, and there are no neighbors to make noise or turn on lights... Wish I knew what was setting them off like that. They crow for a while, eventually shut up, then start up again in an hour or two. 2 roos with 26 hens, you'd think they would be tired out after all the exercise they get...

If I go out and disturb them with a flashlight sometimes they crow about it. sometimes they don't though, so I guess it's just if they FEEL LIKE IT

But I know mine crow when I disturb them, then the neighbor's roo hears mine crow and answers the call, so they have a little contest. I bet the neighbors are wondering what's waking them up! They are close enough for the roos to hear each other, but I can't see them so I doubt they know I woke mine up.
