I just came home from vacation and I have noticed my rooster doesn’t have a tail anymore, why is that?
He is about 1 year and 6 months old(from April 2022)
It’s is right now august but it has been a VERY cold and wet July and so far august,I don’t know if he is molting but if he is isn’t that a little early?
This was him in may 2023

This is probably it. My rooster started his molt a couple of weeks ago on his feet. I pulled a long sickle feather off the poop boards yesterday. Tonight when you lock up your flock, bring out a flashlight (headlamp preferably) and examine his tail to see if there are pin feathers visible.

I agree with DobieLover, moulting is the most likely explanation.
Roosters moulting is a very odd business when compared to how hens moult and I have yet to read a satisfactory explanation for it.
I have never seen a rooster have the kind of major moult one can see in hens.
There are no doubt exceptions and perhaps if roosters were as common as hens how they moult would be better reported.
Sometimes the only way I've been able to tell a rooster is moulting is by noticing the lack of sickle feathers and perhaps the odd other feather or two left in the coop.

Thank you all for the answers, tonight I will go and examine him and look for pin feathers😊
I try to keep a respectful distance between me and my rooster so I can go and pick him up I will just have to wait until it’s night in a couple hours and then I will do another update😊
