Rooster Losing Feathers?

I'm going to guess this is the work of depluming mites. From the photos you have posted, he is clearly irritated, since none of them are of him standing normally. I would try ivermectin and see if he starts to look more comfortable after treatment. The feathers will probably not grow back until after moult.

Rebrascora, is it possible he is the only one of 9 chickens living together to be bothered by the mites? The others show no symptoms and none of them try to stay outside at night, unlike when I had mites a year ago and no wanted to go inside at night? I dusted them all with D.E. and the vet saw no sign of mites on him last fall?

Agreed! Feathers look like they are broken or "chewed off" this could defineately be from over preening due to feather mites. X2 on treating with Ivermectin as well.

And are feather mites the same as northern fowl mites? Could I dust him with Sevin?
