Heads up: Mentions and description of the wounds gifted so "lovingly" by one of my roosters.

Okay, so. I have two rooster, Mr. Snow and Rooster Bennington (aka Roo). Mr. Snow is a loving, cuddly boy and will happily jump into my husband's arms like a sweet, baby boy. Roo... is a dick. He's also my MiL's, so I can't... really make decisions about him, otherwise we'd have a very nice chicken dinner.

The point is, yesterday, Roo managed to catch me off guard and managed to attack me. He got me with both his spurs through overalls and pants before I managed to get him to back off. My first thought was, "No blood, but ow." The second was, "I am Done."

I go into the house, take my layers off, and my husband had to help me clean the bleeding wounds located on my outer calf which is where we learned the wounds were spur wounds, not peck wounds. One is... actually pretty deep and nearly bled through both bandaids before it chilled.

Back story done. Here's what I would like to ask: Does this mean Roo is aggressive and should I try harder to convince my MiL to let him be a dinner?

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. If you're the caretaker, you should have the decision power. Sounds like your situation is tricky. I'd say either he goes in his own separate space away from you and to be cared for by your MIL... or you get to make the decision and make him into a meal.

I'm sorry you got hurt. Are there children on the property? This bird is a hazard and a menace. Tell MIL he either stays permanently locked up or ... he gets chopped. I hope your wounds heal okay. Take care of them. Rooster spur wounds can be very nasty. :hugs
There are children. And, unfortunately, he's also rough on his ladies from what I've noticed.

Reasonably, yeah, I ought to have the power of decision on him, but he was also given to my MiL to join our flock after the majority disappeared on us one day while we were working on their coop and they were free ranging for a bit.
