Hi, I'm having some issues with a rooster of mine. He is the only rooster in my flock of 5 (it was seven but we had some unfortunate losses). One of our hens, who seems to be a favorite of his, has a bald spot on the back of her neck we are almost certain is from him. There doesn't appear to be a wound or any bleeding, just an absence of feathers on the back of her head/neck that seems to be gradually growing. It is his first spring, and I have seen some people mention this as a issue of inexperience with new roosters, but I need some advice about what to do for the bald spot. I would prefer not to use one of the sprays such as "no more pickin chickin" as several of the reviews have warned that it actually made the pecking worse. Does anyone know of a fabric neck wrap or something I could put on her? Or something else similar as a remedy?

:welcome A realistic solution is to remove him from the flock until she regrows her feathers. If you want fertile eggs, occasional 'conjugal' visits will provide them.
