We have a 2 year old Australorp Orpington mix who recently has not been acting himself. I noticed it a few days ago when he was just standing in his run, hiding from his brother's he shares a coop with. Yesterday, my mom caught him and we noticed he's very skinny, his keel is quite pronounced. I assumed it may have been because he has mites so we gave him a bath. Today my mom caught him again and I felt his crop, it was extremely squishy. I had something similar happen with my little stunted orpington so I pressed down on his crop to get him to puke it up. It was foul, the most disgusting thing I've ever smelled and he puked up a few seeds and grains. I wonder if the grains we fed were moldy. Anyways that's besides the point, I'm wondering what the best course of action is. Would an antifungal medication be recommended? If so is there a good place to buy it over the counter? I was considering force feeding him a little to see if he perks up but I'm not sure, should I wait? We offered him water with apple cider vinegar in it and he did not drink it. Any advice is appreciated:(

Is he being kept from food by the other roosters?

I'd make sure he has access to fresh water and a nutritionally balanced poultry feed during waking hours. If he's hiding from the other roosters, you may want to cage him with his own food water so he's not having to hide and/or fight.

Treat the crop according to the article linked below. An anti-fungal like Miconazole or Clotrimazole are commonly used to treat Sour Crop. These can be found OTC at stores like Walmart, CVS, etc.

Are the mites/lice gone? If not, you can find Permethrin based poultry dust at stores like TSC. I'd treat him with that.
