I have a 2 year old Lavender Orpington Rooster. Three days ago I noticed a pile of feathers on the ground. I checked all my chickens and non seemed to be hurt except my rooster. He has missing feathers, no blood, but one of his eyes is shut. It doesn’t look bloody or swollen. He is also having yellow neon watery poo. He is hiding in the coop or under our building. When he is out of hiding he just stands still. He is eating a little but I haven’t noticed him drinking anything. I haven’t tried anything to fix him because I don’t know what to do. Any tips or advice? He looks miserable. Non of my other chickens are sick.

Are all of your other chickens hens? He looks like he has been pecked around his comb and head. Can you rinse his eye with some saline and look for any injury or gunk or bubbles in the eye? You may also put a small dab of plain Neosporin or Terramycin ointment in the eye twice a day. Can you offer him some water and feed up to his beak?

I do have another rooster who is a barnyard bantam. He will eat but I’ll see if I can get him to drink. I have saline wash and can get terramycin.
