Morning curious now that my sapphire Gem is just over 6 weeks if there are any guesses about gender. I’ve included a picture of her as a chick cause they are supposedly sexable at hatch and was told it was a pullet but it has such big legs. I keep hoping hen but when I look at it think roo. I do have an olive egger sapphire gem cross to BCM the same age with bigger legs too but no waddles and a smaller comb. Thoughts. Could I be wrong is it a pullet?

I think that usually the pullets have dark legs. The picture is ours at almost 4 months. Her comb and wattles are much larger now, at 1 yr.

Thanks. She just took a dirt bath and then laid so not as well groomed but I think she's a beauty. My husband named her Hazel. IMG_20240704_181339933[1].jpg

I love the name hazel. I need to decide on names for my new girls. Was she an early layer? I heard they lay early. She’s only 8 weeks so a long time away still but I’m so excited.

I had a sapphire gem that laid her first egg at 16 weeks!
