Saxony's head never turned green... common?

I'm assuming some drakes just never get good coloring on their head/neck? These 5 are over 1 year old. I've also never seen him mount any of the 3 girls there, ever. And he doesn't have a tail feather curl. But the dark breast, greenish beak and larger size tell me it's a male regardless. Is this common? Just poor saxony blood? Could it not be a male? I was quite sure I vent sexed them correctly at hatch.

Hi!

Are you really sure he is a boy, and not just a "big" girl? Because it is not only his head, that should be grey/blue : his rump should be greyish too!

Vent sexing is not even 100% accurate, so... you know...

Does he quack like a girl, or is his voice raspy instead - how it should be for a boy...?

Huuuuh... or maybe it is a colour mutation?

(It is interesting!)

I will go out and try to seperate to listen closely. We have 9 older ducks so its hard to differentiate. I'm pretty good with vent sexing ducks because their penis is so obvious, and it grew larger and with the chest coloring I associated with a male. But anything is possible, I certainly an noy perfect vent sexing chicks. I'm like 4/5 with them.

Doesn't have a loud quack at all. Not like the others. I'd say its a boy but just bummed it doesn't look close to the standard.
