We just had quite a few very bad tornadoes in my town. A large chunk of my town is destroyed, and lickily where I live didn’t get hit and my chickens are okay, but the storms here were really bad and I was at work. I have three hens, two bantams and a polish, and they are all screaming their heads off now. One is doing that very loud very fast constant bak-bak-bak-bak-bak-bak-bak sound, one is screaming really loud, like it sounds like a human scream, and the other Is making really loud 1/2 scream 1/2 bak thing. They sound Incredibly distressed and I’m worried. Any advice on what to do for my babies?

They are very likely stressed by the noise and the changes in barometric pressure. They will eventually settle down. Are you certain that there is not a predator in the area?

Certain I’ve been watching all of the trees and around my house. I sat out there for a long time trying to give them cuddles. it was to no avail though.

Would containing them and covering with a blanket help?
I tried covering the run for a little while. They didn’t even want to be in the coop, they were all outside in the run and just making these terrible sounds. It’s subsided a little today, but still… my poor babies. I’ve been giving them extra love and pets.
