I need to sell a 4.5 week old silver laced wyandotte chick that I feel confident is a rooster. He is pecking the other chick I feel confident is a rooster.

It was extremely difficult to find silver laced wyandottes around here (central VA). I was planning to sell any roosters but had hoped to get them older as I see they sell better once they are out-of the heater stage. But I can't have this one bothering everybody else. He does allow me to handle him, comes to me and sits on my shoulder, etc.

Given the difficulty of finding them and the current interest in chickens, any ideas how much I should post him for?

Thanks!

Don't let chickens sit on your shoulders, it's not a good habit to establish.
Can you post a picture of him(?) To confirm?
Take whatever price you see cockerels going for and add another $10, if you want. The market will be flooding with unwanted chickens in 3-4 months.

Nobody on the local sites are posting prices - that's the issue. Everybody just says, message me to discuss price.
On Facebook? Facebook doesn't technicallyallowthe sale of animals, thats why they don't list price. Markets vary wildly from region to region, you need to find out your prices, we can't help you with that.
Check Craigslist

Why not? I'm curious.

I'm aware that with cockerels, letting them get too comfortable with you can lead to aggression down the line, but I've let my pullets sit on my shoulders without any issues other than poopy feet (and a few goes at my eyes 🙄).

Just without knowing what they're going for around you, and without knowing what he looks like, his health, etc., I'd say at least $20 for a cockerel. That's about what POL pullets go for, I think, generally.

I have always let my birds sit on me. I personally think it gets them comfortable being handled (my daughter shows them in 4H so very necessary).

The poop is the worst part - I have started wearing an oversized shirt when I'm sitting and bonding with them!

If you want him gone, I would not ask more than you paid for him. Look for other people raising that breed is your best chance.

There is no way I would pay more than $5 for a rooster chick. Other people might not be as conservative.
