CheekiBreekiChick
In the Brooder
Hi everyone! I have 4 Wyandottes that are a few days shy of turning 10 weeks old. Two are silver laced, the other 2 are blue laced red (but look more splash to me?). We picked them up from a local hatchery when they were a few days old, and I have no experience with this breed. I've been doing a lot of research and quickly learned these goobers are VERY tricky to sex. It seems like they tend to turn pink early and can even show wattles and combs earlier than expected, so I've been giving it some time. I've waited as patiently as I can and now I'm hoping some people who have more experience with this breed can help me!
All 4 have been a delight and are so curious and friendly
I think there's a chance they're all pullets, but both of the silver laced (chicks #1 & #2) are weirdos and can act a bit cockerel-y, which then makes me second guess myself. They both square up to each other, and chick #1 likes to dart forward with its head down and hackles raised (usually darting at nothing, for no reason lol). I'm very attached to #3 & #4, particularly #4 who has crossbeak. We named her Hasami, which means "scissors" in Japanese. I'm really hoping those two aren't boys! So what do you guys think?
All 4 have been a delight and are so curious and friendly
