Sexing Wheaten Ameraucana Chicks

Hi, I’m trying to sex my almost 2.5 week old wheaten/blue wheaten/splash Ameraucana chicks. One is a definite cockerel from the dark feathering growing on his chest already, another I’m hoping is a pullet and the third has white chest feathers growing in on its chest. Could my third be a splash rooster or is there another explanation for the white? Also if anyone can give me insight on whether they are wheaten or blue wheaten

Yes, I think the one with "white" is a Splash Wheaten male.

Wheaten would have actual black in the feathers, while Blue Wheaten would have the black all changed to blue-- I think I'm seeing actual black in both of your darker chicks, which would make them Wheaten and not Blue Wheaten.

Thank you so much!! I’ve been going crazy trying to find answers (really just to learn) but it seems not many people are familiar with wheatens. The one on top in the picture (I didn’t post individual pictures of this one because I think it may be my only pullet ) would you say blue wheaten or wheaten ?

The only difference is whether the chick has actual black in the patterning on the feathers, or blue. It looks like black to me, which would mean Wheaten.

Depending on the lines you get from, it can be super challenging to figure sex out this young. I agree that the one you suspect is a cockerel is for sure! The other two you will have to wait for, though the one certainly does look pullet-like. The one with the white breast feathers looks to be a splash. I have a cohort from a new line at pretty much the same age right now and I have what I figure are two cockerels (a wheaten and a blue wheaten), two pullets (wheaten and blue wheaten), and two that I am unsure of (a splash and another blue wheaten).

Ok thank you, yes the one with the white feathers does act a little “boy-ish” but not nearly as obvious as the other. I’m curious to find out. What age would you say I will know for sure? And oh nice! Here two more pictures (they’re 3 weeks now )

The potential splash chick has very greenish looking feet, which makes me wonder if he has some other heritage besides Ameraucana. I would expect the feet to be orangish turning to slate as they age like with the other two.

I don't have blue wheaten.. just wheaten, but here are a Male and a female, not much older than yours...

The male is already pinking up on his comb, and of course all of those dark feathers.

Girl is all.... well... girl wheaten color.

So a 7 week old Wheaten Ameracauna that is very light colored with small orangish comb and wattles might be a pullet?
