So do my geese!Turkeys sleep in the trees and are very unruly. I know a person who's wife said get rid of theirs when they scratched up her shiny car. They fight their reflection.
(fight their reflection not sleep in trees)

Maybe something about bantams.@Shadrach : This is Henry. He is from the same tribe I got Leonard & just as sweet natured & accommodating. I don't know what she does but all the roosters this girl raises are absolutely wonderful.

I don't know if I told this here before, but here it is:
This is Felicitas. She is a Cream Legbar Genetic Mishap Being of Some Kind. She's always been a bit odd compared to the other chickens. Usually a bit slower, along with the fact that her rear end hangs quite low, and she always has egg issues whenever she starts or stops laying. I don't know what's causing these issues, but she acts fine otherwise.
Anyways, it took some times, but I was annoyed with the fact she kept tripping me up while I was herding them to their tree, or while I was putting them in the coop. The others would go fairly fast, and she would lag behind. So I started picking her up and carrying her. At first she hated it. Hit me in the face with her wing and everything. And then she realized just how much easier it was to be carried to the coop, under the condition she be carried the way she likes. Now she expects to be picked up and taken to the coop. Today she actually stood there waiting for me to pick her up, and recently she's made angry chicken noises if I delay.
TL;DR, Felicitas lives in luxury and has a hooman (or, as she says, Big Rooster) to taxi her back and forth.
Way to go - willing to take a wing slap or two to make a friend in the end! I think you deserve to power up a level for that trust win They are rewarding little creatures to interact with, for sure! Today I practically snapped a tarp right over the heads of my chickens and they didn't even bother moving. It is rewarding to know that they know me enough to feel safe, like your Felicitas does with you.View attachment 4005928

has the conclave decided on their new boss yet?Thank you all. I miss her, but life goes on.
The rest of my chickens were clearly in some confusion about what happened and have been sticking together for security. But the contest for who becomes the next top hen has already begun.
My money is on Tassels, who has begun to flex her muscle a little. But Calypso is not taking that transition of power as a given.
Calypso is the only hen laying and that seems to confer some status that allows her to stand up to the generally more domineering Tassels.
It is fascinating to watch. All quite subtle at the moment - not any overt violence beyond the odd peck on the noggin - but still quite clear that they are sorting things out between them.
No! And it is an apt analogy.has the conclave decided on their new boss yet?
