Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Oldies but goodies! Is the bottom one pictured of a shipwreck? It would be fun to browse through that series.

The oldest book around here is probably my grandfather's well-thumbed Boy Scout manual from the 30's. Like your collection, the manual is in pretty rough shape, front cover is actually detached, but I am afraid to tape it up with cheap tape that in time may do more damage than good. Professional book re-binders seem to be hard to find as I suppose it is somewhat of a lost art.
Ask at the public library, they might know of a book re-binder.

Cold! All the water was still forzen when I got to the field. The blow torch unfroze the mains tap in the field. Nobody looked like they were dying of thirst.
I left the flat earlier than normal today because they said the sun would shine and cold or not they love getting on to the field. Two and a half hours today.
I forgot to charge my hand warmers.

On art...I did take art classes in school, loved dabbling in different media, and it was in art class that I met a certain young man.

I appreciate many styles, primitive as well as realism, Turner, Japanese watercolors, Impressionism. But some modern works just do something for me.

I love this sculpture.

Wish he did a chicken. :p

So do I. At least someone, quite a few infact it seems, appreciate the message the artist is try to convey. My view is it's a waste of a banana.

And the duct tape.
Imho a good laugh for millions of people is well worth the cost of a banana and a piece of duct tape.

What did surprise me is that someone bought the idea at auction, for over 6 million dollars. 🤦‍♂️

Sort of tax: Chicken outside a school in Utrecht. It’s a bronze sculpture of Tineke Nusink. She made more animal art like this.

Some art has the intent to please or shock the eye. Other art has the intent to please or shock the mind.
Sometimes these two come together and make magnificent art.

I just love the idea of the banana taped to the wall. The peanut butter floor of Wim T. Schippers.
Even more the copper plates that were urinated by Andy Warhol. And of course the shredded girl with red balloon by Banksy.
I remember that. Shame it jammed and the full effect was missed.
I am a Banksy fan. I think he lives near Shad.

Apparently the $6m got you instructions on how to refresh the banana.
