I am working on moving and building a new coop. The coop walls will be LP Smartside (engineered wood material), but I am trying to figure out the roof. I don't know whether to do metal or shingles. I have been weighing pros and cons, but one thing I don't know, is if mites like to hide in shingle crevices? Does anyone have eny info there? I want to make the coop to where it has as few places for mites to hide as possible (no interior walls, and lots of caulking between framing and exterior walls), so I don't know if shingles would undo a lot of my efforts.
