Show off your duck houses!!

I wish i had a outfit like yours! I converted my old roughed up shed into a coop i have yet to do the finishing touches,.. its not big enough to have chickens on one side and ducks on the other and last winter the ducks had a hard time with my chickens because my leghorns would get bored and pick on my muscovies..... do you think my idea of converting the dog house would work?

I read this thread when you first posted it a few weeks ago, way back when my ducklings still fit in the palm of my hand. They have had a small run out back and were sleeping in the garage ,but tonight they are in their new house. It's not finished yet but it is well ventilated and secure. 5x5x5 with somewhere around 40 square foot of vent up top. It's a little too elevated on one side for now but I'm probably going to take the day off tomorrow to finish the run and put in a pond ,so ground level will be changing. I'm a sucker for my ducks so even keeping it simple isnt all that simple.

Here is mine that my husband built for me! I just had the beach umbrella up for shade during the day since I was keeping the babies in there, but now they are mostly free to stay with the big ducks. It’s funny though, they still put themselves to bed in

there every night like they are locked up, and the big ducks sleep right by them on the outside of the little run that is attached!

Some slope can be really helpful in maintaining good drainage and keeping a run from getting boggy.

I have an outdoor pool for them, and a portable covered run for outdoor time. We live in the woods and are surrounded by coyotes, owls, hawks, raccoons, dogs, moles, beavers, mountain lions, hawks, snakes, you name it. I supervise them outside in their run, and they are happy inside, especially because it's winter. They love to play in the bathtub and to cuddle. I'm building them a better, more predator proof solution for longer outside sessions when it gets warmer. But, since they're very happy, I'm not too concerned. I also sliced my hand with a wood boring drill bit trying to build one, and 7 stitches later, decided to wait a bit.
