Should her throat be a clear tunnel? Just past her tongue I see a mass that is covering probably 70% of her throat, maybe a tumor

It sounds like canker to me! Once we see a picture, that will help!

I had a hen that had a mass in her throat, preventing her from swallowing food well, and the vet diagnosed it as squamous cell cancer. We had to euthanize her. If your friend is sure its not canker, it sounds like cancer. So sorry.

Yeah she thinks this may be it… they are prepared to end her suffering
