Sick hybrid and what to do?

I'm sorry to hear she's not improving.

Sometimes, no matter what we try, they can continue to fail. Unfortunately, it's a sad part of having laying hens.

I'd finish the course of antibiotics and continue to offer her supportive care like you are doing.
We mixed up some egg yoke, nutri drench, starter feed, yogurt, and water last night and fed her app. 3.5 mL of that before bedtime. She's still alive this morning, so we'll continue the anti biotic - and we are going to get a long tube to put on a bigger syringe and try to force feed her enough to keep her alive until the anti biotic has time to work. Thanks WR!

She's had her nightly .2mL dose of Baytril, and about 18-20mL of the mix (egg yoke, few drops of nutri drench, some electrolytes, yogurt, and water). I managed to find some small clear tubing and a larger syringe to feed her the mix. She ate some of her broccoli and watermelon also. She was outside today for a few hours, still lethargic with some scratching and nibbling. She gets to a point that she just hides under a bush and stands there. We have 6 hybrids (Crimson Queen and Golden Comet), but have only named 2 - Miss Creamy, and Miss Semi-Cremy. They both have red feathers and varying amounts of white rear end feathers. Our sick girl we now call Missy. Just found out there is a vet that's near that sees chickens. We'll take her there Monday. I'll let you know if we can get a diagnosis.

I'm sorry your girl is not feeling well. You're doing everything you can to help her. It sounds like she may be dealing with a reproductive issue the way you describe her behavior.
We had a Golden Comet that was rather sickly all her short life of 14 months and she never laid an egg. We treated her multiple times with antibiotics and supportive care and she would rally only to digress again.
It's great she is eating and getting to forage if she wants. Let's hope for happy news from the vet.

This is from today's outing. She did scratch a bit, mostly with her beak. Still no energy. We are tube feeding her the mix in post #75, which looks like the egg yoke mixture along with some of the puss looking discharge you see in this picture. She had her .2mL of Baytril this morning, and will get the same tonight. Tomorrow morning will be the last of her 5 day antibiotic treatment. Wife fixed her watermelon and broccoli for supper, which she's sort of looked at but not eaten much, if any. Will take her to the vet tomorrow. I'll relay any diagnosis/treatment we may get. Thanks y'all!

Tuesday night update. First I want to thank all of you who have given us advice on Missy. The treatments and medicine we've given her so far is: Calcium, 5 days deworming with Safeguard, 5 days of Baytril antibiotic - which we stopped Sunday night, nutri drench and electrolytes. All of these suggestions from you have kept her alive so far. About an hour before her vet appointment, we looked out and she was drinking water. Then she ate some chick starter, both dry and mush. We went to the vet and got some good news. After a butt washing she got a digital exam. The vet felt nothing but some swelling below her vent. then she got an X-ray. Nothing, no obstruction, no pieces of egg shell stuck in her tract, just some swelling and maybe fever. The vet gave us some meloxicam, 3.5mg tablets for 8 days, and we washed it down with some electrolytes. Hopefully this will clear up any swelling and help with pain. The vet also said that the Baytril we got from Jedd's was correct strength and dosage for her weight (4 lbs), and said we might need to do another 5-7 days treatment, once her swelling and pain reduced and she had started back eating regular food. Tonight for supper, she's got chick starter with a side of applesauce. The vet kept saying how thorough and correct the treatment we've given her has been. Thank you all again for your experienced suggestions and dosages. I'll let you know of the progress as the days go by. :bow
