Silkie horns

The book says all cushion combs should be dq'd for spikes. Is a walnut comb the same as a cushion comb? Forgive me if I sound stupid.

RR-PP makes cushion, walnut and strawberry combs. The differences are caused by modifiers. Tom

interesting. I do appreciate the information, because it does pop up a lot in silkies. Those 'horns' probably come from the infusion of polish blood. What a PITA.

Right as usual.

May be, but silkies have a walnut comb; not a cushion comb. At one time the standard called for spikes on the comb, or so I have been told by several LONG time silkie breeders.

On further review as the NFL refs say- the ABA Standard lists "horns protruding from the comb" as a defect. The APA Standard, on page 6-7 of the 2001 edition states [Comb, [5] Silkie.....Sometimes 2 or 3 points hidden by crest, others w/o points." In the APA Standard this condition is not identified as a D/Q or a defect.
