Is it too early to sex silkies at this age? The white is a week older than the rest, but they're all about 3.5 months old.

1 - White - oldest, I think pullet? Very neat hairdo, I don't see any wattles but this one is bearded I think?

2 - Partridge/buff - youngest at 14 weeks. Most confident on this one being female.

The 3 blue ones are color coded bc I can't tell the lighter 2 apart very well. I apologize if it's confusing, I confused myself trying to organize them. I tried... 😂 They're from the same hatch and are 14 and a half weeks old.

3 - Darkest one, I'm still not sure if this one is blue or black...? - No color/band. I'm really stumped on this one. I don't see wattles, and it's the smallest of these 3, but I do see come comb, I think? And what crazy hair! The flightiesr of these 3.

4 - Blue with purple band/💜 label. I think boy? I see some wattles and messy hair. If he's a he, I really hope he's quiet so I can keep him. He's so delightfully dumb and makes me laugh with his predicaments (like getting "stuck" on the opposite side of a barrier from the rest of the chickens and being utterly unable to figure out that he needs to walk 2 feet around). Also the calmest of them all.

5 - Blue with pink band/🩷 label. This one is the biggest of these 3, but I'm thinking pullet? Very round hairdo.

I'm leaning towards your guesses on all of them except the last one as we can't really see the comb.

The next couple of weeks it'll start becoming obvious what they are. It always seems the roosters stand out first, but the hens we're wary of in case their comb suddenly erupts and the hackles start growing in on their necks.

Is all this new growth hackle feathers? This is #4 purple that I'm guessing is a boy

#4 💜 - 4 months exactly today

Still thinking cockerel? He's the absolutely the dumbest chicken I've ever seen. Does not notice when the rest of the chickens have moved on, or just doesn't care? Just hangs out completely by himself in the open grass, basically daring a hawk to pick him off. (He's not allowed out unsupervised)
