We got 6" of snow here in the deep south! The hoop coops faired well but the 3 canopies that I have (one over the car) all collapsed under the weight. I got out yesterday and shoveled snow off the largest one covering the big pen. I'll have to find a way to fix the top run of the canopy. Same for the smaller one. I had a cattle panel arched over the top of a round pen and it inverted as well. That's going to be a tough cookie to get back up.. more shoveling. It's not throw away and buy new here as I live on Social Security and VA disability. I'm happy none of my birds were injured. And we'll be back in the mid sixties next week.. go figure!

Plastic lawn rake works great to clean off the tarps on hoop coops.

Inverted cattle panels suck. Ive had that happen. Takes 2 people to bend them back flat on the ground. One to stand on it and the other to bend it back to flat.

I have that old white silkie who likes to stuff her face in mud to slick up her feathers. I think she got some in her ear. Ive been fighting an infecting in there for weeks. The ear canal was stretched to the size of a dime when I noticed it wasnt just mud. Carefully picked out bits of pus and was getting a little smaller.

2 days ago the pus solidified in just the right way that when I was cleaning first top came off then I got ahold and pulled rest and it all finally came out. Blukote very carefully.

Didnt get to her yesterday. Today I pulled the crusty off and there was just a small amount of puss that all came out. Ear canal is size of lentil now.

I swear I'm going to build a pen for her and a couple others where they cant get to dirt. Im just glad they are resilient
