Chirping
Hi all, I recently brought home my first chicks for a small backyard flock, three Black Australorps. They were about 2 weeks old when I got them four weeks ago, so are about 6 weeks old. The feed store sold them as sexed pullets, and said they have a 90% success rate with the hatchery they are using.
I'm crossing my fingers they are all female, as I can't have any roosters in my backyard, although I do have a possible back-up placement for one rooster, if needed..
So here they are:
Bird #1, Goldie, is my favorite, calm, friendly, curious:
Bird #2, Tipper, is the one I'm most concerned about because her comb seems less serrated and more rounded:
Bird #3, Cheeks, I'm less worried about because she has always been the smallest, and her comb is less developed than the others:
And here is an above shot of all three, Cheeks(#3) on far left, Goldie (#1) top right, Tipper (#2) in the front:
Thoughts? And, thanks!
