New here but have found some great tips. We got 3 chickens last April. Our EE started laying about 2 weeks ago and has been giving us a daily, beautiful green/blue egg with nice thick shell. Our other 2 girls are a Buff Orpington and Golden Sex linked. One of them did produce a beautiful brown egg (only once about a week ago). I 'think' it was the Buff but can't be positive. We have found 3 of these very small (quail size) eggs and wonder if this is normal. These small eggs are never in the nesting box, just scattered in the run. I opened one and it has a very tiny yolk and is most definitely an egg, just very small (see photo, the white egg on the left is a commercial egg, the middle green one is our EE's and the small brown one on the right, is the egg I am referring to). Anyone else have any experience with small first eggs? Will she eventually start laying 'normal' size eggs and start using the nesting boxes? Any advice/feedback appreciated. We 'think' this small egg is from the Golden Sex Link but not sure.
Thank you,
