So disappointed in hatching eggs

I paid a lot of money for a dozen eggs. They shipped Tuesday arrived Monday. Day 6 of the 14 eggs just one is a maybe. It's started but looks weird. I'm so upset I wasted money is this typical?
She seemed to have a good farm and following on social media. She did have poor communication the first several days after asking for tracking but other than that no issues.

She obviously packed them well if all 14 got there without breaking.

I can tell you that this year compared to last year of receiving shipped eggs has been completely different. Eggs were lost once out of six times and got here on the 6th day. Most of the time I was getting 20 to 30% hatch rate, vs. years before, 70+. I would have expected you to get a few more out of that though. I finally gave up trying to get specific birds and ordered grown birds that were flown here from Florida. Extremely expensive, but when I figured all the money I wasted on shipped eggs, that was a bargain!

Which breed were they? If perhaps silkies, I've got a few shipments from breeders on social media, a few via word of mouth websites, and one batch from eBay.

the issue appears to be shipped eggs, rather than hatching eggs. If you want to try again maybe confine your search to breeders within whatever distance you are prepared to go pick them up and bring them home yourself, so you (a) get them fresher and (b) can transport them carefully so that they don't get shaken.

You may not get the same range of breeds to choose from via local suppliers, but choices are just imaginary if the chosen eggs don't survive the process of acquisition.

I feel your frustration!! Im in the exact same boat as you unfortunately. I ordered some expensive eggs from someone that had a very large following on social media. She was very nice when I placed the order and paid. All communication after that has been subpar to say the least. Eggs took over a week to get here. Once they did arrive quite a few were broken. All the air sac were completely detached and the yokes appeared to be a mess too. I have one or two that are a maybe out of 24 eggs. They were packaged in foam as well and from what I have read that is one of the worst ways to do it because the eggs take the blow from every bump and jostle.
I know that once the eggs are out of the shippers hands it's the postal service that does so much damage. BUT this is just my opinion....I am starting to feel like breeders are going to have to drop their prices or no one is going to keep purchasing a dozen shipped eggs for $150 (not including shipping) if we are all getting <20% hatch rate.
At this point I am going to just start trying to find breeders close to me where I can just go and pick up hatching eggs.

Right and I have no idea how old they were when they left 6 days prior. Too much money to waste. Mine went from NC to MO.
