Ok I have looked at mcmurry, and mpc and am reading through as many posts as possible. I really really want all hens when I order pullets and I would really love a nice variety ( its the spice of life you know) and maybe some nice colorful eggs. I have never mailed ordered chicks so I am a bit of a nervous wreck about it. So any tips on which hatcheries might be best for my area?

I bought my chicks from my local feed store who had ordered them from Mt. Healthy. The 1st 10 I bought were Barred Rock Pullets (5) and Columbian Cross (5) All are healthy and happy out in the coop. The next 10 I bought about 6 weeks later are Light Brahma and Buff Orp pulletts. And those are now in the coop. All chicks were happy and healthy and have grown wonderfully. So, In my humble opion I would order from Mt. Healthy. Not alot of variety but the chicks are great. And I believe that all are pullets just as the signs said.

Good luck on the new fuzzy butts. They are so much fun.

i have this issue with luck. Mine apparently was given to someone else. Last year was a 100% roo year except for my 2nd batch of golden comets who never laid in a years time. This year I did farm store but all my barred rocks I am pretty sure are male. I think out of 8 I have 2 females and I bought them as pullets. They are all super healthy and growing fast. Just they are growing bright red combs and waddles fast too.

My theory is that everyone else is having splendid luck with mail ordering theirs so I might as well give that a try. That and I could have more varieties which would make me a very happy person. I can't decide I just one breed. I want them all apparently. I have looked at mt healthy though.

Hello HeatherLynn, Give Lake Cumberland Game Bird Hatchery A Try.I Lve About 30 Miles From Them And Thay Are Good To Work With Here Is The Phone Number 1-765-381-3642.You Can Look Them Up On Line Also Don,

I just tried welp and all chicks arrived in healthy condition and alive and honestly these are the best chicks I have ever gotten in an order. I would go with welp

I have some great chicks from Mt. McHealthy but also have had great success in the past with Murray McMurray. They have always been my fav. BUT, now I am thinking to order only chicks from breeders, found on here. If you need all pullets though, I'd go with a hatchery who guarantees girls. HenZ

I have only ordered one bunch of chicks from a hatchery and that was Cackle! They arrived last Friday, I ordered 20 and had 21 live chicks in the box when I picked them up! I haven't lost a one and I believe they have at least double in size!
