Sold as Buff Columbian bantam cochins, but are they?

So I bought these at a local fair for $25 for the pair and they were labeled as Buff Columbian bantam cochins. Others have said they aren't and one person mentioned that the hen was actually Furness and not buff columbian. Are there any Cochin color experts or chicken geneticist that could answer this?

The female is way off from being a buff columbian.
The male is closer but still off.

One of the most popular buff columbian breeds is the Buff Brahma. You can Google them to see what the correct pattern should look like.

Thank you both! That definitely helps! Does the hen seem to be Furness? I hadn't heard of it until the other day, but I couldn't find any examples that look like her. I understand if she's just a mess of color.

I don't know anything about that pattern. She doesn't strike me as one and idk their genetics so couldn't say if she was just a poorly marked one.
Did someone see the pic and say that's what she was? Lots of times birds sort of, kinda look simular to a pattern then someone jumps onto that's what they are. Might be case.
I think she's a mixed pattern of some kind. She (or both) could be buff columbian crossed to something else and some of the something else is showing mixed with the buff columbian pattern

It came from someone who breeds and sells bantam cochins. I messaged her, but she wouldn't answer. She shows birds too. Searching goggle, I'm not finding much about that pattern. I'm only seeing a bird that doesn't look like mine. These birds are only 5 months so they'll come into their color a bit more and fill out. Thanks for all the replies and help. They are beautiful birds in my eyes either way.

I would be suspicious of that breeder. Showing doesn't mean you're honest about what you're selling, and not responding is sketchy.

I totally agree, they're beautiful. It really doesn't matter if they have perfect coloring unless you plan to show, and most people do not. Cochins make great pets.

I do plan to show, but not these birds. I'm growing out some buffs and a white for that possibility. These birds are more of a hobby project.
