Solution to stop hanging waterer from tipping?

I have a hanging galvanized metal waterer, I think 5 gallon, and I've been having a horrible time keeping it from sliding around on its hanger to where it ends up tilted and all the water goes on the floor. I don't understand why they would make feeders with a little hook in the hanger to prevent this but not waterers! Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can fix this problem? I attach the waterer to a caribiner hook that hangs from nylon string from another hook below my poop board (if that info helps) - so it's the caribiner that slides along the handle of the waterer to tip it.

You could put several wraps of duct tape on either side of the caribiner to keep it centered.

I believe Little Giant actually recommends against hanging their five-gallon metal waterers which is why the handles are not conducive to doing that.

That said i do hang all of mine and this is how I do it.

I have seven tractors with five-gallon double-wall founts in them hung this way and have used them for years. Works great.

Simple. Set it on a base like they were designed to be used.

I was told when I first started with chickens the best way is to hang the waterer and feeder so that they can't knock them over or kick shavings in. I had it on a heated base over the winter and had to deal with shavings in the water and it also didn't flow properly...I had to lift up on the handle several times a day to get the water flowing.

Good point, but if you move your coop around all summer and your property is on a slight slope, then it doesn't really work. And sometimes you don't figure that out until after you buy the waterer. Hanging is a simple option. Not everyone is a chicken genius, ChickenJerk.

The photo above is a great idea! We use a convoluted rope trick, but I think I'll go try to find an old metal bucket handle and above idea out ... one of these days.

Have you considered putting a slight bend upward in the center of the handle? It wouldn't take much.

Yeah that was my original thought but I wasn't sure how to make that happen...don't want to ruin it. What would you suggest? Otherwise really liking AT Hagan's idea...just trying to find something around here to use to make that.

I have never been able to hang my waters it was always easier to set it on top of a stand.
