Spur innards (infected?)

Well, the spur is like a nail. That's why he freaked out, the outer sheath is missing, so that exposed part is like the quick.
If it's scabbed, then I would not try to remove that. Clean it with the Chlorhexidine. Let that dry, then apply a thin coating of triple antibiotic ointment. Wrap.

I wouldn't soak at all unless it's a have to.

Feathered footsies! Oh boy. Never wrapped those, I would think that's a challenge! I would wrap minimally and see how that works.

I would almost say not to wrap, but that exposed spur is tender, the wrapping will help protect it.

You may want to move his cage so he's not tempted to cage fight the others. They can damage themselves pretty good.

Thank you! He does the fence fighting whenever he is free ranging 🙃 I guess he feels tough 💪 knowing they're behind a fence and can't get to him.

So it's a bone in the center, covered in quick, that's coated in a hardened nail like sheath? This makes more sense, so thank you for the clarification 💜

The scab consists of ooze and dirt so that's why I was hoping to remove it so a clean one would form. I did clean it the first night and removed a scab with dirt and feathers in it before he went to bed. I wonder if the accumulated coating of ooze from overnight was enough to protect it from the dust and dirt that stuck to it while he was scratching around in the next day? I'll clean it, apply a thin coat of triple antibiotic ointment and wrap it like you mentioned and keep a close eye on it. I don't want to cause him more pain by removing the scab, again. Poor guy. Thank you so much for helping me help him

Well, sorta! LOL
It's soft tissue covered by the sheath. Tough/hard and keratinous like nails and beak.

It hurts and bleeds if they damage spurs, just like beaks/nails.

The scab will likely eventually slough off just like any other scab does during healing. So, up to you whether to remove it or not.

I will definitely be taking your advice. Thank you so much. You're the best 💜

Check this out! I found it while working in the chickens area this morning. I know it's from Carlos. I was surprised to find it at all, but especially this long after. It's hollow as far as I can see down into it. What's even crazier is that I found another spur shed from another rooster yesterday morning. I knew that the end of his was going to shed as that's how they've always done, but I've never found them. Now I've got 2
