Standards for Buff Brahma Bantams and Silkies

My 4 H daughter wants to show Buff Brahma Bantams and Silkies, does any one have a copy of the standards for these breeds

Thank You brahmabreeder. She bought a trio off Buff Brahma bantams at a show last week, but we still need a trio of white Silkies. I've been searching the net for the standards and disqualifications for the brahmas and cant find anything.

Why don't you go shead and post pictures on the Brahma thread.We can try our best to critique them and hopefully give you a better understanding of the standard.

IDK where you are located but the Ohio Nationals should have some decent silkies for sale. If not there will be plenty of breeders there.

I'm in Oklahoma. I will post pictures of the Brahmas Thursday when I have daylight hours at home to take pics. She plans on showing the rooster at a local show next month and I was told the pullets aren't old enough yet? They are about 6 months.

Being bantams they *might* be old enough. It's really based on weight more than anything. I know that for Large Fowl you want to wait until they are ten months old before they get shown. Otherwise they will be small and not filled out enough to win.

Ok sorry it took so long, Brahma people let me know what yall think. My daughter will be using this trio in her first youth show. The pullets are still pretty young, but I guess the show is set for trios.

First off these are kind of crummy photos. I think I can still tell enough by them though. Well let me start off by saying everything appears to be nice and wide like a Brahma should be. Definitely can tell they aren't hatchery birds. I like the clean coloring except for the wing picture and the hen closest to the camera in the second to last photo. There is a really black feather by her tail. Pull it before you go to the show. It's the one a couple inches from the tail.
Ok we're looking at the primaries here. Notice how the right side has no buff in it? Well the photo you posted has some smutty coloring there.
I can't tell much on wing carriage and tail angling because they appear to not be posed well in the photos.

Note the tail angling on this male I have. I think yours have it but I can't tell for sure. You can see on the hen in the background how her wings are carried. Nice and parallel and the tips kind of tuck them selves away. For that male the biggest thing as far as coloring that I noticed and don't like( which really is quite a minor thing ) is the black in the feathers right below his wing tips. I would post some better photos on the Brahma thread and Tim( vice-president of the Brahma club ) should be able to critique them. *I*think they look pretty good as far as the SOP is concerned. All the information I have gained so far though is just from talking with breeders. I have never layed my eyes on the actual Brahma SOP.

I'll try to get some better ones. So the plan is to bathe them 2 days before the show, file there nails( we clipped the roosters last week) and rub a little baby oil on their combs before we leave for the show, any other ideas. I've heard of people spraying their feathers with something but I'm not sure what. Also heard of using clear nail polish to paint the toenails, but with feathered feet I'm not sure about that one. I have added black oil sunflower seeds to their starter crumble a few days ago though I don't think they like them very much. Also my daughter wants to keep them in the house after she bathes them until the show, I guess to keep them from getting dirty again.
