Well, the troublemakers showed the Barnevelders how to get up there, caught a Barnevelder pullet up there today. I've NEVER had Barnevelders get into the attic. Icelandics, sure, but not Barnevelders.
Sooooo, I got my ladder out, my stapler and found some old screening material. Viola, no more access up there. They can still get to the rafters, but not the storage area. The storage area has plywood on top of the rafters for shavings storage, but they changed the size of the shavings bags, so now they don't fit up there anymore.
Hopefully now I've outsmarted them...........at least for the moment.

But, they want to be friends with (ie poop on) the goats!
I'm going to sectioning off a no chicken area in the goat barn in the spring.
That is too funny!
Don't you love smart chickens?
Absolutely. I felt a sense of accomplishment tonight when I went in and one of them was on the roost. The "regular" roost. The other one was defying me by sitting on top of the feed sacks. She will get moved when I take the dogs out before bed. They have nothing to do other than eat, sleep, poo, lay an egg once a day or so. That leaves plenty of time to figure out how to get into mischief.

I really wish they weren't such great flyers. Then I could keep them in my orchard. That coop is perfect for them, being a smaller breed. BUT, that run isn't covered. I can only imagine the chaos.
