Stinky Acres Farm

Got the first Brahma egg of the year yesterday!
Yay!!

But one of the chickens has milky diarrhea which is quite concerning. I can't tell who yet; I'll have to sit in the coop and watch. All of them looked perky and had full crops this evening.
Hopefully whatever it is clears up easily and nothing too serious comes of it. Keep us updated!

Starting my farm stand build! I'm trying to spend the least amount of money possible. The cheapest locking money collection boxes I've found cost about $17. I built this one for next to nothing with materials, hardware, and paint I already had on hand. I know it's not completely theft-proof, but it will be a deterrent.

Awesome!!!!!

Cleaned out the coop today and I am testing out a new bedding. This is pelletized pine bedding. The 6'x10' area took four bags, but I may have to add another. Certainly not the cheapest bedding option.

The chickens were actually scared to step on them at first, I think because of how noisy they are underfoot and the new texture. I'm sure they'll get use to it. I saw one hen taste a pellet then quickly spit it out, so they definitely know it isn't food.
