1] I was about 12 and my dad had chickens and I loved them.

There was this chicken in particular that I took a fancy for and one day I decided to hold her and put her on my lap.

I used to always throw food at them to feed them but my interactions were about that much and occasionally I would look at their coop and curiously look inside.

So, this one fine day, I picked her up and put her on my lap and pet her. To my surprise she didn't flinch or resist at all.

I would pet her and she would just stay on my lap forever! She enjoyed the pets and she would close her eyes as I pet her.

This is how I ended up loving chickens more.

They are said to be dumb but I have found them to be a bit more smart than dumb.

She was weird in the sense that she would only eat her food if I personally fed her with my hand. So, I would scoop food in the palm of my hand and let her bite my palm once every few seconds and eat it. I was worried she would starve to death. It became too obvious perhaps when her eggs turned fragile and I would feed her many times a day being worried she wasn't eating anything and was waiting on me to personally feed her.

2] My dad got this pullet and put her in the coop at night. The other chickens pecked her and I would try to protect her from them and to my surprise I found her on my window when I opened it at night. She literally came all the way from the coop to my window. The coop wasn't far away but Like WhAt tHE HECK! She was sitting like she was pressing down on the window. She would always want to be with me. We had fun times.

3] My dad got this rooster and he was disabled and when he was introduced to the flock, he ran with his one and half leg and I simply said "Here come, you are safe here" - He ran fast and jumped on me and I held him. Since then, I would say "Jump" and he would literally jump.

4] Now, I am in another country and older and I haven't come across chickens like the above ever. Maybe they trust children more than adults? I dunno.

Actually, chickens are very smart and loving. You give them love and care for them and they will love to be around you, NO matter what age you are. LOL
I currently have one that I hatched myself with a small incubator. At first, for like ten weeks of his life, I thought it was a HEN. :celebrateBut on the 11th week of his life he started crowing. LOL:lau We have been through so much together, we are inseparable and I am 42 years old.
