Hello again.
I'm worried about one of my chicks. Her name is Honey. We got her a few weeks ago to replace Robin's sister, who ended up being surrendered because I didn't have the money or supplies to care for her and she was showing strange symptoms and seemed to not be getting better. That chick (Mocha) also started getting new symptoms that were even more strange before we surrendered her. She (Honey) is about 3 1/2 weeks old. Her "sister" is 5 1/2 weeks old, so over a month now.

Honey often sleeps in strange positions, but I've had chicks do that before, so it wasn't alarming to me. Today I caught her sleeping in an extremely abnormal and concerning way. Since I cannot post photos by themselves without logging onto my computer, I made another YouTube video.

Should I be worried? Robins sister had strange symptoms, definitely not the same as Honey but we're still significant.

She seems fine other than that and is eating, drinking and playing fine. They have started getting supervised outside time during the day when it's above 80°. She is pooping fine but about a week ago was having some trouble with constipation which was resolved with some additives in her water for digestion health. They have access to fresh water and food 24/7.

I have about 60 silkies right now from 2 days old to 2 weeks old in brooders and they do surprise me with the strange way some of them sleep.

I would get some chick vitamins for their water, Poultry Cell is one of the best and complete ones, and give them to all of your chicks every other day for a week or more, just to be on the safe side.

Update: Her head seems to be stuck looking to the left? I'm unsure of if it's wry neck or not but I'm going to give her some vitamins. My sister thinks maybe her larger sister trampled her.. but I'm unsure. I'll make another update in the morning.

Vitamins should help her regardless of how it happened.

If you don't have Poultry Cell, make sure that what you're using has Riboflavin in it.

she just passed away. Her sister is fine. I'm not sure what happened, it happened really fast. I couldn't save her and I'm quite upset because she was a pet. Should I take her sister to the vet in case it's something contagious? I'm not sure what to do

I am so sorry! :hugs

Actually, if you want to get her tested in case it's a disease or illness, take the one that passed. Double bag her and keep her in the fridge until you go. They can do a necropsy on her to possibly find the cause of death, and send her blood in to be tested.

But chickens don't die of wry neck normally unless some affliction or disease causes wry neck symptoms. Since she's the only one who had the issue, it seems unlikely it is any disease or illness, though.

I think you need a bigger brooder pen.
