Stupid people with stupid dogs - no animals harmed or killed

I completely understand. We live next to a couple of artists who are nice but were really clueless about keeping their dogs in... They said they wouldn't mind if our dog was loose and came over to their house to play (after I complained about there dog being at my house day after day).

DH told them next time our dog is over at their house (our dog is never loose!), please let him know so he can come over and shoot her. He would never do such a thing, but they have since kept their dog at home!

Unfortunately not evrybody thinks like that. Some people see no problem with letting their "baby" run amok.

It seems like the rude ones are *EVERY WHERE* too. in the street in the park etc. etc. I've a guy down the street who tetthers his dog to the front porch & I swear I could take that leash & hang him with it when I see him. prior to him thethering it he use to let his run too & the woman next to him had this little sheltie that she was trying to train in her yard. Now this was a sheltie & so even "untrained" it would be like sitting there staring up at her for direction LOL but she'd have the dog from next to her romping all over her front yard & she's trying to boundry train her dog..... If she was out with kids there'd be his dog & I think she finally had to say something. You know no one wants to be fighting with the neighbors or have to get nasty. But it's almost like they're counting on everyone else being polite you know? And yea I couldn't be walking my golden girls down the street because they'd be "on a leash" & he'd be running free. now even on leash my girls are relaxed & it's I who is stepping inbetween so they're not protecting me. And then I usually call to the owner "call off your dog or I'm going to use the pepper spray"! They move right quick when you yell that to them too. Though I don't have pepper spray with me really but it's dawned on me to get some just for that purpose. These people are just too rude. And so whenit's someone who's right after their dog & one can see it's sincerely a "oopsie kind of thing" I do think they're more patient or I know I am. But these people who are just going to let their dogs run or even with them right there & just "let them work it out?" what the hell? Annoying & so rude.

I'm sorry but if they don't even know they're dogs are at your house then how do they not know this dog is being attacked by another dog or some such thing? I mean if their dog is in the neighbors yard and they've just put down weed killer or something their dog could be there rolling in it. People are just so irresponsibile not watching their dogs.... but then people don't want their kids & so we all shouldn't be surprised when it comes to their animals.

Agreed. I used to live next door to a family that constantly let their dog run. It never chased or attacked another animal, but one day it got on the highway and caused a terrible accident. Two people were killed and so was the dog. Of course, they denied owning the dog when that happened. Some people just don't get it. Domestic animals just don't belong off their owner's property. If I am driving down the road and hit a dear, or if a coyote grabs a chicken, that is an act of God and to be expected in nature. If a domestic dog causes an accident or kills a chicken that is the responsibility of the dog owner.

I worked with a girl that had a "pit" and some small mixed breed...
They were both on their leashes and this Great Dane off leash came over and started fighting with the little dog. The owners came running over, but it was too late...The unleashed Great Dane was killed by the leashed pit...She was protecting her family...and she wasn't faulted for it. the Great Dane's owner was cited and made to pay for the injuries to her little dog.

One of my dogs is a yorkie and you know yorkies think they are kings of the earth, yesterday I was gathering the eggs and I hear him screaming,go running to the back door and My roo has attracted my poor little yorkie, but dumb as he is he still thinks he is king of the earth, glad I don't have to many neighbors.J.R. wasn't hurt, but now he stay close to mama when he goes outside. But T-Rex will try tospur anyone except me, we have already had our WHO IS BOSS routine, He lost. marrie

AMEN!!

And that applies to chickens as well as to dogs. I am sometimes amazed at the people who complain about dogs on their property, but who nonetheless think it's just fine and dandy when chickens wander over to the neighbors' garden.

Thankfully, my chickens have never wandered off my property. And neither has my dog.

To me, there is a tremendous difference in someone who conscientiously tries to keep their animals on their property, and someone who *lets* their animals loose each day to do as they will knowing full well the animals don't stay home.

I would dearly love to catch artsy neighbor's dog some day and dye it green and send it home with a mohawk.

I took it's collar and tags on multiple occasions, as a small bit of payback for having their snarling stupid blue heeler on my property.

Here's a photo of said snarling stupid dog, loose, in my yard, after it jumped in my brother's rust bucket car and would NOT come out.

I used to live in town by a huge 40 acre park where I walked my LEASHED dogs frequently. I had several nasty encounters with a womans off leash cocker spaniels and started carrying pepperspray because of them. Not a week later I saw one of her dogs charge an akita mix of some kind and the akita killed the cocker in seconds then trotted off. The woman started screaming and wailing, then put a LEASH ON HER DEAD DOG!!! I called the cops and hung around to tell them what had really happened.

Right now I'm still healing from having a chunk bitten out of my calf by a standard dachsund of all breeds.
