A Zebu isn't a good choice as a dairy cow. Their milk yield is typically low, not providing much in excess of that needed to feed the calf. There are more economical options when it comes to feed conversion. It's also relatively common for Zebu cows not to let down their milk for milking machines or humans hand milking them; only a calf suckling will trigger the response in these cows. In time this will lead to lower milk yield as the cow will only produce what her calf requires.
