Hi everyone
I was wondering is there a better taste with the organic eggs than the normal eggs. Can you taste the difference beside the price. I do know the goods about like no meds and ect.

I taste a definite difference between organic and regular store bought eggs! The colour and consistency of the eggs are different as well, not to mention the nice feeling you get from knowing you're not consuming chemicals, growth hormones, and antibiotics, as well as support organic gowers!

From the grocery store here in Ontario Canada they cost $5 per dozen, regular eggs are around $2/dozen. I have been paying the $5 for the organic because it's worth it to me, but I hope to get my own organic eggs soon once my chickens start laying this summer!

The eggs from my girls have more flavor and much better color. Another interesting thing is that they whip up much better! You don't have to add milk to them like you do the store bought eggs. And meringue is much easier to make!!

Well, I dunno abot organic eggs - Im not paying $5/dozen to perpetuate that hustle.
But I can speak about my own yard birds' eggs, which get only local mill feed, kitchen scraps and 'grown' treets. I'd call them 'natural', as opposed to "organic."

Flatly put, I haven't detected a drastic difference in taste. I 've tried, even doing side by side comparisons. There is a texture difference and "yard eggs" cook up more firmly. They dont spread out in the pan as much and the yolks are darker, and dont run the same. They seem to work better in batters too, giving it slightly more body. I know one woman who wont make cakes with store eggs.
And you cant hard boil them properly when they are dead fresh - they have to set for a couple of days.

But there isn't a notable taste difference, I'm sorry to say. I WANT there to be one and I try to come up with one, because I've put so much into them. But with my eyes closed, I cant tell enough difference in taste to make a difference.

I can most definitely taste a difference, especially side by side comparisons when I serve the eggs scrambled, without any seasoning so as not to bias the flavour in any direction. I'm thinking the food my chicks get makes the difference so noticeable. Either that, or our store bought eggs (either organic or other) are just so old that they naturally decline in flavour over time. I'm very sensitive to food tastes, so I presume that's why the distinction comes so easily to me. My husband doesn't notice much of a difference, but he smokes so I think that inhibits the taste bud sensitivity.

Anyway, that's my opinion!

I wouldn't call my eggs "organic" either, since they're fed on prepared feed and I don't know it's exact orgin. But I do feed them some extras like clover, black oil sunflower seeds, yogurt and occasionally scratch. The difference in taste that I've noticed is that the homegrown eggs taste much more like eggs, if that makes any sense. Perhaps it's better to say that they aren't as bland as store-bought eggs. And oh yeah - BIG difference in the quality of baked goods made with home-growns!

I can taste a big difference in fresh eggs from my flock and store bought eggs. I have never liked store bought eggs, but when we have had chickens, I have loved the eggs. They have a much richer taste and a much more vibrant orangy yolk color. When I took some to coworkers, they said they were the best eggs they had ever tasted. My bf, however, says he cannot tell a difference. Most people I have given them to, though, detect quite a difference and prefer the fresh yard eggs.

There is a world of difference between store eggs and backyard eggs. The yolks are bright orange and stand up higher in the skillet.

When I was a kid, my mom used to make us pull the milkweed so that the chickens wouldn't eat it. Well, now I am old and lazy so I let the chickens take care of the weeds.

It doesn't seem to affect the taste of the eggs at all.

The organic egg yolk is more sticky when simi-cooked and taste alot better than the store bought egg. However, when hard boiled I can't tell the different in taste apart from the colour of the Yolk being more orange for the organic egg.

I did read on the net that the organic eggs contains 1/3 less calories than the store bought egg. So think of it as a healthy investment?
