Hi all! So, these past two months have been very interesting. My dad found two baby chicks..one was ill…they turned out to be roosters , I couldn’t find a home for them so I ended up taking care of them for over a month. About a week ago, I finally found a place that would take them. Part of me thought I could just drop them off and be fine with updates, but of course that was not the case 😅. I am now volunteering for the club that took them in. Not only that, but I’m I took an officer position 😂. Needless to say, I easily attach to little babies!!

Yesterday was my first hands-on experience at the coop and I fell in love with the rooster I was randomly assigned - who happens to have bumble foot on both legs and also scaly mites. It was the first Rooster I’ve ever held, and he was such a good boy - he cuddled into me 🥹(I haven’t even held the babies I took in). Sooo, after our 3 hour hangout, that’s now MY boy and I want to help him (and the other flock members) recover as quickly as possible.

Long post just to ask if Terramycin helps with bumble foot! They’re a small nonprofit, so they don’t really have a lot of funds. If Terramycin helps Bumblefoot I’ll definitely be picking some up. It’s currently being treated by soaking the legs, removing all the black stuff, cleaning it, applying triple antibiotic & wrapping it with a bandage. The mites are treated by soaking, cleaning, clipping the scales and then lathering with Vaseline.

I’m also now concerned that when my boys (who are currently being quarantined) are integrated…they’ll catch bumble foot or scaly mites. Yesterday, I also found out that a hen recently died of merecks 😔 how I wish I had a farm or could keep those two boys myself.

Any advice on how to clean the coop? It’s pretty big and nobody else is affected by that disease that we can tell…but reading about it is very scary, as they were all exposed to it. The boys are being held in a separate section from the coop..& may have already been exposed.

Sigh - I never knew there were so many dangers. I’m a dog mom and as you can probably tell, a helicopter mom, no dog parks here.

Anyway, thank you so much for your time. Any and all and input and advice is greatly appreciated! <3

What they're doing is enough, terramycin isn't necessary.
Don't cuddle him too much, that tells him you're not worth respect, especially since he's growing into his hormones.

That one wasn’t one of mine, it was a full grown rooster. Thank you for the tips! I definitely want him to respect me lol
