I'm totally in love! We went out of town for a conference recently and these people had a stand there and they were giving out little baggies of free layer pellets. Naturally I had to check it out and lo and behold, it's non-soy and non-GMO! Their store is located in Waco TX, which is too far for us to drive, but they told us they were willing to deliver (I'm not sure how far, but they were willing for our area.) if the order was big enough. I think he said a half truck at least. They have Chick starter, chick grower, and laying pellets. It's made from peanuts. Here is a link directly to the chicken feed page. It's only $14.75, only a few dollars more expensive than what we pay for regular layer pellets. I'm not sure if you can order it online yet, but he said they were gonna work on it.

Have you bought any yet? I can get Countryside here in Florida but it seems to be mostly powder. I ordered some from Scratch & Peck and the food is lovely. A little powder but mostly grains and the like. But the shipping! Yikes!!!!

I have not bought any, but I did get a sample bag. It was not powdery at all. I wish I had gotten a picture. The pellets are bigger than other pellets I've bought locally. I can't say what it would be like in a big bag, but in the sample they gave me it looked to be very good quality. The chickens loved it. They thought it was a treat. I imagine we will be sharing an order with all our chicken raising friends if they are interested. I don't know what the shipping would be to Florida from Waco, probably outrageous as well.

Problem with being in Texas is that the distance from me (in Houston) to Waco is like the distance from Raleigh, NC to Macon, GA. I'd love to find a good chicken feed for less than the $17 a bag. Heck, I'd like to be able to find *any* chicken feed here for less than $17 a bag!

Is feed really that expensive in Houston? I guess everything is more expensive down there. I went to Galveston recently and was floored at how much things cost! Waco to Houston is quite a drive. Texas is so big, it's faster to get to Mississippi from here than to the other side of Texas. I should have said "Central and East Tx" =P

I pay $14.50 for layer right here on the island. I can get it for $13.00 if I want to drive 40 miles to Santa Fe.

I can get it for 14.50 a bag if I want to take a 45 minute (one way) drive. Sometimes I do that. But all the ones in a more reasonable distance charge around $17 and up.

I'm with TEXAS NATURAL FEEDS in Waco. We handed out sample bags at a recent Expo. We would like to serve you better and be in more locations with our non soy - non gmo feed. We do deliver all over Texas. Tell you local feed store to carry our product.

-would be very interested in this feed! We're in North Texas, and currently the only non-GMO and organic feed we've found has been very powdery. The chickens sift through it and peck out certain pieces and leave the rest. It also contains DE, of which I'm not a fan (dusty and I scoop the coop, daily). I can't find a list of ingredients for this product. Does it contain DE?

I haven't seen an ingredient list either, but from the sample bag I got, it was not dusty or powdery at all. I don't think it contains DE. I was a big fan of it, as were my chickens. I still plan on getting some. I was impressed.
