Perhaps my earlier description was unclear, but the one that had been sitting in nesting boxes for many hours per day is the one that got up our of her bedding box and chased another hen out of a nesting box that wasn't even the one she was laying in!

The ridiculous part of all this egg maneuvering is that two different chickens have been caught moving Hei Hei's eggs back and forth today. I'm afraid they're going to end up cracking it.

The other night I found one egg on the ground, so I'm wondering whether these nesting box guarding antics are going to cause some of my girls to lay them outside which would not be ideal.
Perhaps she is your head hen...my head hen doesn't allow any other hens even in the coop while she is laying. I have 4 nest boxes at the moment, she could be hunkered down in one of them and if another hen comes in while she is doing her business she will get out of her nest and chase them out, then go about her business.

Perhaps that's it. I've always assumed Angela was the head hen since she laid first and is the oldest and largest. When she was little, she would peck my hands when I was trying to refill the feeders, but she's had a very reasonable temperament as she has matured. As long as you aren't carrying snacks, she's pretty docile. 😁
I'll have to study the situation more carefully. My battery powered cameras get busy sending video back to the home base inside, so I might miss a few seconds here or there and somehow missed most of the laying activity today. Watched video of what I thought was one girl sitting in her box and collecting all the adjacent fake eggs, but I went out around 1PM to check on things and I found 6 eggs in that spot and 9 total.

I think I'm still getting used to how some of these girls look when my coop camera switches into night vision mode, so I'm starting to think I may have misidentified who's sitting at any given point in time, too.

Please help me !!!!
Im sorry. I have never experienced this so I don’t think I’m much help, but maybe try to move the hen and eggs. Prepare a fresh clean nest and carefully and quickly move them. Do your best to brush off any ants. As I said I’ve never had that happen, so I really don’t know. And moving hatching eggs is also dangerous. I’m just telling you what I’d probably do, but I don’t really think it is necessarily the best option. Maybe start a new thread instead of posting here. It will draw more attention to your question.

Ok Guys got a question an a bit of a problem there are ants crawling on eggs that are hatching and about to hatch what can I do to get rid of them so they dont kill the babies
Agree. Use a dog kennel or crate. Move the hen and chicks away from the ants. I suggest a small plastic type crate to keep the hen contained until the eggs hatch.

They will need food and a little water that the chicks can sip and not fall into after 24 hours.
