The Moonshiner's Leghorns

The Sportsman is pretty well packed right now, but the spare Genesis in the closet is calling my name. lol I have a solo goose egg in the NR 360 right now I am having to hand turn which is a pain so can't use it. (It is a friend's egg, not mine.) I know I don't need more chickens. But I *need* more chickens.
Yes you absolutely "need" more chickens...

I already had too many sebrights but..... I "needed" some new blood so I "needed" the ones I brought yesterday. (4 hens and a rooster)

Now I need to find a place to put them :th

I'm glad I have found people who understand me. lol

We can always find a place to put them. ;)

Did I mention that I just bought 2 dozen Light Brown Leghorn eggs online? Because I *needed* them! lol

Thoughts @Amer ? I am open minded to them being mixed, but it just doesn’t seem like they are.
MAybe red can be duckwing based? Somehow?
Some sort of weird ginger red columbian?
Idk
Even the if red can be duckwing based I don't understand how they have such clear duckwing markings, even being heterozygous for Columbian and Ginger.
For reference, this is what red d'Anvers look like

I couldn’t help myself and quickly candled my Buff Leghorn eggs this morning since I had to open the Sportsman anyway. Mind you, it is only day 3, but only 5 out of 14 look to be developing. 😩
But it is only day 3!

I see "house chickens" in your near future.

I have tinkered with the calculator and they could be "black patterned red (incomplete) columbian with less hackle markings" if somehow the red leghorn rooster is split wheaten/duckwing and the chicks are inheriting a full duckwing base? One copy from the hen, and one from the rooster? I will take pictures as they feather out and we will see how they look in a few weeks. Maybe then you can make out what their genotype/phenotype may be. It's very interesting. I will also share pictures of the next couple of hatches I have left of the Red x Brown Leghorn eggs as they hatch. They are due every 2 weeks.

And I know it is only day 3, that is what I keep telling myself. I just want them to hatch so bad and I panicked when I only saw signs of development in 5 of them. I will candle them again later on next week around day 7 and see how they are doing then.
:fl
