The Old Folks Home

I'm lucky, I have seeds started already, and will be putting outside in a month or less.

I won't even see the ground for another 2 to 3 months.

The report for California is dismal. We had the driest January since the 1976 drought. The snow pack is 25% of Normal.

We have a chance of rain on Friday so Go Rain!

I'm going to start my chilis next week. I'll grow them as big as I can inside, and in June or July when it's warm enough they'll move outside (after being gradually introduced to the outside). I need to grow them for quite long inside and then get them to flower outside when it's warm, probably sometime in August they will start doing that, and in September they will move back inside and they should start to be ready for harvest by then.

I've been thinking about ordering some seeds from this place:
http://fatalii.net/

They seem to have a pretty decent selection.

Warranties are nicely handled in Finland. The seller is required to handle warranty returns, so you can just take it to them, or then you can take them to the post office and the seller will pay for the shipping. Most products are given a expected minimum operating time, so a puter, phone or home appliance will have a minimum two year warrant, while a pair of headphones will only have a 6 month minimum warranty. Of course, with refurbished things it's different.

Arielle, I personally don't like Google Chrome. I don't like how it looks or operates. We always use FireFox, or regular Google.

I'm comfortable with it as it is what I have been using for some time. SOme websites seem to work better on GC than IE, and I think BYC is one as I remember.

I do best if everything stays the same. One change and it mixes me all up. A creature of habit here. lol

Kids use FIrefox for their gaming. Mostly need Flash now aws I cant look at seed catalogs, and gardening plans,a nd kids cant do the extra online work they need to do ( per me) to stay up or ahead of school work. ( Because of the extra work my oldest did in math a year ago he was moved to an advanced math class and FINALLY school is interesting for him.Meaning he is not so bored that he is leafing ahead in the text books. lol)

It's been raining since about dusk last night and it will be turning to snow tonight getting into the teens.

I'm not bragging, we've had a very dry January as well. I think this was only the second rain.

Some teens and single digits the next 2 weeks and long range forecast shows nothing below the 20s the rest of the spring so I might get the garden in early.

I didn't like Chrome at first, but it's become my favorite browser. I started using Firefox around version 2 or something, but about a year ago I switched to Chrome. I like how it automatically updates itself and all necessary plugins.

The forecast for below Springfield was for snow today but it isn't right at the moment. I'm not eager to have snow but if it is going to snow this winter, I wish it would do it already. Get it done and over with.

I bought some "naughty" pepper seed off ebay  ( $ 2.00 for 25 seeds) - these are the guys someone earlier posted photos of  - a NOVELTY hot pepper.  I've never grown HOT peppers.  Got no info on how tall they grow or how long till maturity etc.  Want to grow plants for a couple neighbors so they can be surprised.  The guy next door is a great gardener so if I can grow young plants I know they'll do fine for him.  And one of the senior bus drivers loves hot peppers and grows several varieties.  He wins at local chilli contests  .  I just hope they will germinate for me etc.  I was game because the seeds were cheap. I'm not a veggie eater but, thought it would be fun & funny.

Has anyone successfully grown any of them???
I grew anehiem peppers and jalapeños last year. Both did well. My DB even made pepper vinegar with some of the jalapeños.

Chick Whispers - ditto for the snow - we've got heavy, wet "widow maker" snow. I am suited up and at least prepared to open up the end of driveway where snow plow buried it. Oy!! I do it the old fashioned way - with shovel.
Stay safe-- take it slow. lol , nothing wrong with a shovel!!

DH just finished clearning the area around the mailbox, and last clean up . . . . .. before the next 10-14 due in tomorrow. HOping kids will be home from school so they can snow shoe!!
